Install Hippo Video app from Slack app directory and sending video messages

Slack is a messaging app for business that connects people to the information that they need. By installing the Hippo Video App inside Slack, you can create and send interactive videos with just a few clicks. This helps to collaborate with the teams more easily and increase productivity by simplifying communication. 

To install Hippo Video App from Slack App Directory:

  1. Go to the Slack App Directory.

  1. Search for the Hippo Video app and install it. 

  2. Once installed, you’ll find the Hippo Video app below the Apps section in the left panel.


To send video messages:

  1. Log-in to Slack using your credentials.

  2. You can share videos as direct messages to contacts or post them in a channel within Slack.

  3. Click the respective contact below the Direct Message from the quick navigation bar on the left.

  4. In the Compose box, press the Slash “/” command and select Hippo Video. You’ll be able to find the options to record a new video or choose one from the Hippo Video library at the bottom.

  1. Click on Record Now. A pop-up window will appear where you will have  the option to record a new video or choose one from the Hippo Video library.

  1. Click Start Recording to record a new message.

  2. Once you’re done, click Finish Recording.

  3. Click the Edit button and use the Scissor icon to trim out any awkward pauses at the beginning or end of the video; crop, add emojis or callouts, blur out parts of the screen or resize your video by clicking on the appropriate icons; click on the T icon to add text.   1. Once you have completed editing, your video is ready to be shared.

  2. If you wish to send out your video via a sales page, click the Sales Page tab on the top right corner to select a sales page template to embed. Click here, to learn how to create a sales page.

  1. Click on the Thumbnail tab on the top right corner to choose a thumbnail for the video.


Note: It is recommended to choose an animated GIF thumbnail over a static one.
  1. Once you’re done, click on Insert Video.

  2. You’ll see the video gets posted as a link along with the thumbnail inside the compose mailbox.

  1. You have successfully sent a video message to your contact from Slack.
