Before you jump into recording your video, let’s quickly see how to change your webcam’s appearance using Hippo Video Chrome Extension and also inside Hippo Video Product. This feature is applicable for salespeople while explaining or giving demos on the product to their prospects.

Webcam Shapes:

  • Circle - Helps record using chrome browser. You also have an option to on/off the webcam by clicking on the Markup tools’ toggle button.

  • Rectangle - Helps record inside the application window.

Webcam shape change using Chrome Extension:

  1. Click on this link and add Hippo Video as Chrome Extension.
    Note: Audio and Video permission is given automatically while installing the hippo video extension.

  1. Once you’ve installed, you will see the Hippo  icon at the top right corner of your browser.

  2. Click on the Hippo icon.

  1. Click on Allow Webcam & Audio Permission.

  2. Now, click on Advanced Settings at the bottom of the widget.

  1. Below the Screen Capture Settings, check the Show markup tools box to enable the webcam on/off features in the markup tools while recording.

  1. Below the Webcam Settings, you can select from a range of  webcam features such as:

    1. Webcam size: Medium/Small/Large.

    2. Aspect Ratio: The 4.3 ratio is the default for the webcam circle (non-editable).

    3. Webcam position: Bottom left corner/Top left corner/Top right corner/Bottom right corner.

    4. Webcam shape: Circle/Rectangle.

  2. Once you’ve selected, click on the Back button at the top left corner of the widget.

  3. Now, click on Record and select the type of screencasting you wish to record: Entire Screen/Window and proceed with the recording.

  4. Then, click on Share. You will notice that the webcam shape appears in the form of a circle.

    Note: You will be able to navigate between tabs while recording.

Webcam shape change inside Hippo Video:

  1. Click on the + Create button icon from the menu on the top and then click on Record and Screen.
    Note: Without a chrome extension installed, you will have access only to webcam and mic options. By default, all three options are selected, and if you are trying to record, you will get a prompt to install the chrome extension.

You can choose to ignore by clicking on Skip or Refresh the page and unselect the Screen Record option to continue recording. You will be asked for permission as shown below. 

Click on Allow Recording to record with video & audio or click on Install and follow the on-screen instructions for installation.

  1. Now, click on Audio/Video & Resolution Settings.

  2. You will notice the webcam features, as shown below.

  1. Select the webcam features (as explained below Choose webcam shape using Chrome Extension).

  2. Once you’ve selected, click on Hide Options (to collapse the webcam features) and then click on Record.
