Before you jump into recording your video, let’s quickly see how to change your webcam’s appearance using Hippo Video Chrome Extension and also inside Hippo Video Product. This feature applies to salespeople while explaining or giving demos on the product to their prospects.
Webcam Shapes:
Circle - Helps record using chrome browser. You also have an option to on/off the webcam by clicking on the Markup tools’ toggle button.
Rectangle - Helps record inside the application window.
How to change the webcam shape with a chrome extension?
Click on this link and add Hippo Video as Chrome Extension.
Note: Audio and Video permission is given automatically while installing the hippo video extension.
Once you’ve installed it, you will see the Hippo icon at the top right corner of your browser.
Click on the Hippo icon.
Click on Allow Webcam & Audio Permission.
Now, click on Advanced Settings at the bottom of the widget.
Below the Screen Capture Settings, check the Show markup tools box to enable the webcam on/off features in the markup tools while recording.
Below the Webcam Settings, you can select from a range of webcam features such as:
Webcam size: Medium/Small/Large.
Aspect Ratio: The 4.3 ratio is the default for the webcam circle (non-editable).
Webcam position: Bottom left corner/Top left corner/Top right corner/Bottom right corner.
Webcam shape: Circle/Rectangle.
During recording, if you want the webcam to appear in the center, enable the 'Start recording with webcam in center' box, otherwise, it will appear based on the default position.
Once you’ve selected, click on the Back button at the top left corner of the widget.
Now, click on Record and select the type of screencasting you wish to record: Entire Screen/Window and proceed with the recording.
Then, click on Share. You will notice that the webcam shape appears like a circle.
Note: You will be able to navigate between tabs while recording.
How to change the webcam shape inside Hippo Video?
Click on the + Create button icon from the menu on the top and then click on Screen + Camera from the pop-up.
Click on the Add to Chrome button at the bottom.
Again, click on the Add to Chrome button.
Click on the Add extensions button and follow the on-screen instructions.
Close the current tab. Go back to the previous tab and select the click here link at the bottom.
Click the Show Advanced Options at the bottom.
Choose your preferred settings such as webcam position, shape as a circle, size, etc., (as explained below Choose webcam shape using Chrome Extension).
During recording, if you want the webcam to appear in the center, enable the 'Start recording with webcam in center' box, otherwise, it will appear based on the default position.
Once you’ve done this, quit the dialog box and click on Start Recording.
