With Hippo Video, you can now use an image and video as a virtual background for your videos by using the Virtual Background feature. It can be any existing animation or background videos or images that you want to use as your virtual background. In addition to that, you can also use your webpage screenshot as the virtual background to add value to your brand.

Let’s see how to apply virtual background for the new and existing videos,

To apply a virtual background for a new video:

  1. Log-in to  Hippo Video with your existing credentials.

  2. Click on + Create button from the top right or the Plus icon from the left navbar and then click on Create Prospecting Videos.

  1. Once the recording is complete, click on Finish Recording

  1. Select the folder as Virtual Background below Add to folder title on the right-side of the video preview.

  2. Click on the Virtual Background option below the video preview.

  3. The Change Background slider will appear.

  1. The Select Folder lets you select the folders of your choice to choose the background.

  2. The Search field allows you to search by video names, image names or tags.

  3. The Show Content Type option allows you to filter only the images or videos or both by clicking on the text link.

  4. If you select any image or video, you’ll be able to see the preview of the same at the top.

  5. None - Click to reset your background.

  6. Add Background - Click to add images from your local drive/g-drive/weblink.

  1. Here for example, let’s see how to add a website screenshot as a virtual background.

  2. By default, the Web Link tab opens up.

  3. Enter your valid website URL in the field.

  1. Click Check. It may take a few seconds to validate the URL. 

  2. If the URL is not matching then you will be prompted with the error message else you will be shown with the website screenshot preview.


  1. You’ll be able to see the preview of the same. Click Import.

  1. Enter the title and other information.

  2. Click Import.

  1. Once you’re done, click on Apply at the bottom. It may take a few seconds to render and process the video with the selected virtual background.
    Note: By clicking on the Cancel button, your virtual background selection will be discarded. However, you can always choose the video from your Library to apply a virtual background later on. 

  1. You’ll notice that the selected background is applied to your video as shown in the below example.

To apply a virtual background for an existing video:

  1. Click on Library from the left navbar and then click on All Videos. 

  2. Now, select the video you wish to apply virtual background.

  3. In the Video Preview page, click on the Virtual Bg icon below the video preview. 

  1. The Virtual Background slider will appear.

NoteGreen tick indicates the selection. 

  1. Once you’ve selected your preferred background, click on Apply

  2. It may take a few seconds to analyse and apply virtual background for the selected video. 

  3. The selected background is applied to the video as shown below:
