Add virtual background to your videos while recording

Previously, you could only add a virtual background after recording the video, but things have changed for the better. Now, add a virtual background with ease while recording using the snap camera feature (by SnapChat). You can also use this while doing Screen Record + Webcam.

Note: The Snap Camera supports both Mac and PC (Windows). You can download the snap camera versions accordingly.

Let’s see how we can achieve that,

Step 1: Download Snap Camera:

  1. Click here to download the Snap Camera

  2. Install and restart your system or browser to get the changes reflected in your Hippo Video account.


Step 2: Launch Snap Camera:

  1. Click on the Gear icon at the top right.

  1. Choose your camera and make sure that the Show Snapcode Overlay toggle is OFF, to avoid watermarks while recording. 

  2. Once you’re done, click Back at the top left.

  1. Below the video preview, enter Custom Background/Background and choose your custom background from the search results.

  1. Click on the Select Image button.

  1. Choose your preferred background and click on the Open button. 

  1. The background image will be updated as shown in the below example. 

Step 3: Navigate to the Hippo Video Chrome Extension:

  1. Choose between Webcam + Mic and Screen Record + Webcam + Mic.

  2. Click on the Advanced Settings button at the bottom and choose your Webcam source as ‘ Snap Camera’.

  1. Go back, and you’ll notice that the virtual background is applied to your webcam.


Examples:

If you choose Webcam + Mic, then you’ll notice the virtual background added to your webcam as shown below:

If you choose Screen Record + Mic, then you’ll notice the virtual background added to your webcam as shown below:

Or Step 4: Navigate to your Hippo Video account:

  1. Click on the +Create button at the top and select Camera Only or Screen + Camera.

  1. Select Camera Only, if you want to stick to recording your webcam.

  1. Click on the Settings icon and select your Webcam Source as ‘Snap Camera’. 

  1. You’ll notice that the virtual background is added to your webcam as shown below.

  1. However, select Screen + Camera if you want to record your screen and webcam. 

  2. Choose your camera as ‘Snap Camera’ and click on the Start Recording button.

  1. You’ll notice that the virtual background is added to your webcam as shown in the below example.
